Local peacebuilders are the world’s best-kept secret. Being a Peace Starts Here local champion means you stand with local peacebuilders. It means you believe that peace is longer lasting when local efforts to build it are better supported.
We want you to join the movement. We want to unite and amplify our voices. We want to bring peacebuilding back to the community. Let’s all show the world how we play our part in peace. Hear us, join us, work with us. #PeaceStartsHere
Peace Starts Here microgrants are more than a funding opportunity. These microgrants are your way to join the movement of local peacebuilders who are reclaiming their narrative and power.
We’re excited to broaden our community of local peacebuilders by sharing valuable resources. Through microgrants, we will support initiatives that often struggle to access funding and learning opportunities, helping them to make real change and become part of the Peace Starts Here campaign.
Successful applicants will become Peace Starts Here local champions. They will receive microgrants to champion the Peace Starts Here manifesto within the local community, and access to learning opportunities through our peer-to-peer community of support.
Recognising the diverse needs and capacities of grassroots organisations, we are offering three distinct funding tiers, ranging from 500 USD to 5,000 USD.
Each tier is crafted to accommodate short-term activities of varying scales, ensuring that all peacebuilders, regardless of their organisational size or experience, can participate and join the Peace Starts Here movement.
The proposed activity needs to be aligned with our Peace Starts Here values and manifesto asks. You can read more on the tiers and the projects supported below.
As a Peace Starts Here Local Champion, you will form part of a peer-to-peer community of local peacebuilders committed to mutual support and learning. This network is designed for those who are ready to actively engage with others—through mentoring, sharing advice, participating in workshops, and contributing to ongoing dialogue on various peacebuilding topics.
You will connect with fellow champions, offer guidance, ask questions, and collaborate in a safe space dedicated to growth and exchange. This platform is designed by you and for you, fostering a culture of trust, respect, and shared learning.
