Meet Chakriya from Cambodia. A young feminist and peacebuilder from Cambodia. As the Advocacy and Networking Coordinator at Women Peace Makers Organization, Chakriya has dedicated herself to empowering grassroots women from diverse backgrounds.
Chakriya’s journey began in the northeastern region of Cambodia. As a woman living with a disability, she has faced many challenges that minorities, particularly women, encounter. Her experiences have shaped her understanding of the complex barriers that women with intersecting identities must overcome.
Through years of dedication to the exploration of feminism and peacebuilding, Chakriya has come to understand the intersection between these fields. She has led numerous initiatives aimed at empowering women and girls, creating safe spaces where they can voice their concerns, learn about their rights, and advocate for their communities.
Chakriya’s work underscores the vital role that feminism plays in peacebuilding, demonstrating that true peace is achievable only when it is inclusive and equitable. Her efforts continue to inspire and pave the way for a more just and peaceful society.
For Chakriya, peace starts with inclusivity and mutual respect.
